Automatic Brightness <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most iMacs or Macooks have an ambient light sensor built into the screen that has the ability to communicate with the OS and adjust brightness on the fly.&nbsp; However, we do not want the brightness level changing during the calibration process, so this should be <\/span><b>disabled<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> prior to calibration with TruHu.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The box to be unchecked is found in Apple Menu \/ System Preferences \/ Displays \/ Display Tab.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. True Tone<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>True Tone works in conjunction with Apple\u2019s high-end displays. It is intended to adapt \/ shift the display\u2019s white point \/ color temperature to put less strain on the eye. This should be <strong>disabled<\/strong>, as it interferes with TruHu\u2019s calibration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"668\" height=\"479\" src=\"http:\/\/stageblog.truhu.app\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/System-Prefs-Displays-.png\" alt=\"System-Prefs-Displays\" class=\"wp-image-8235\" srcset=\"https:\/\/truhu.app\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/System-Prefs-Displays-.png 668w, https:\/\/truhu.app\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/System-Prefs-Displays--300x215.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 668px) 100vw, 668px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Example:&nbsp; MacBook Air running MacOS Monterey (12.6)<\/span> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">4. <span style=\"color: var(--heading-color, var(--heading-4-color, var(--headings-color))); font-family: var(--fontFamily); font-size: var(--fontSize); font-style: var(--fontStyle, inherit); letter-spacing: var(--letterSpacing); text-transform: var(--textTransform); text-align: var(--stk-alignment-text-align,start); background-color: transparent;\">NightShift<\/span> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This causes a shift to yellowish white at night and to a blue-ish white during the day and is disabled&nbsp; by default. Nightshift interferes with TruHu\u2019s ability to set color temperature, so we recommend keeping Nightshift <\/span><b>disabled<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. in Apple Menu \/ System Preferences \/ Displays \/ Night Shift<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Display System Preference \/ Night Shift Tab make sure the Schedule is set to \u201cOff\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"451\" height=\"260\" src=\"http:\/\/stageblog.truhu.app\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Night-Shift.png\" alt=\"Night-Shift\" class=\"wp-image-8236\" srcset=\"https:\/\/truhu.app\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Night-Shift.png 451w, https:\/\/truhu.app\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Night-Shift-300x173.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 451px) 100vw, 451px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">External Displays (same for Mac and Win)<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adjusting the brightness requires getting familiar with the display\u2019s On Screen Display (OSD) menu. The controls are usually found in the lower right edge of the screen\u2019s frame. We\u2019ll provide an example from one popular manufacturer \u2013 a Dell S2719HN.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OSD controls are usually found in the lower right corner of the screen on the bezel. In this example, button 3 brings up the OSD menu.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"291\" height=\"188\" src=\"http:\/\/stageblog.truhu.app\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/OSD-Intro.png\" alt=\"OSD-Intro\" class=\"wp-image-8237\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This screenshot from the Users Manual provides good instructions on how to make OSD adjustments.&nbsp; Brightness\/Contrast is typically the first control to come up when you enter the OSD menu.&nbsp; It is not recommended to adjust contrast on LCDs, so you\u2019ll only want to adjust brightness (highlighted in red) as directed by TruHu.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"592\" height=\"464\" src=\"http:\/\/stageblog.truhu.app\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Dell-Adjusting-Brightness.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8238\" srcset=\"https:\/\/truhu.app\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Dell-Adjusting-Brightness.png 592w, https:\/\/truhu.app\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Dell-Adjusting-Brightness-300x235.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 592px) 100vw, 592px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Windows<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With your Windows computer, you are likely to encounter one of two situations. Either you are using a built-in display, as is the case with a laptop, or you could be using an external display.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Built-In Displays<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Adjusting Brightness <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adjusting Brightness is generally accomplished on the keyboard with the big and small brightness icons located above the numbers row.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brightness can also be adjusted in the Display settings found in&nbsp; Settings \/ System \/ Display.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.  Automatic Brightness <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some laptops come with the ability to adapt the brightness to ambient lighting conditions. This feature appears to be disabled by default. We do not want the brightness level changing during the calibration process, so this should be <\/span><b>disabled<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> prior to calibration with TruHu. If you have a pretty constant lighting environment, then it would be best to keep this disabled.
